VAMPING

An original solo show performed by Kali Quinn, directed by Jonathan Maloney and assisted by Daniel Burmester, is a dynamic multimedia theatre piece that explores the struggles of senile dementia. It is seen through the eyes of Julia, an elderly women confined to a nursing home in her later years, and the world that surrounds her, both in reality and her fading mind.

NO MAN'S ISLAND

During a fantastic month run in May 2007, GUTWorks performed the American Premiere of NO MAN’S ISLAND(starring Daniel Burmester and Jonathan Maloney, and directed by Kali Quinn). An astonishing play by renowned Australian playwright Ross Mueller at HERE Arts Center in NY,NY. Mueller is one of Australia’s most gifted new writers, having been a long time affiliate of the Melbourne Theatre Company and a recent representative at the International Residency of the Royal Court Theatre in London, he was extremely excited to bring this updated version of NO MAN’S ISLAND to the United States. Mueller’s new script toiled with every man’s modern struggle for survival, but what happens when they are forced into a pressure cooker of a world where apocalypse always looms and freedom is a dying hope?

No Mans Island Poster

This provocative play plies the emotive depths of two haplessly damaged souls. With the two locked in the isolation of a cell together and their crimes and sentences unknown, we plunge to the core of their confusion, need, and boiling loneliness. Tim and Robbie may have come to prison from desperate parts of the outback, at different times and for separate felonies, but now their lives are indefinitely converging into one as they become striking reflections of each other.

PRESS

“Maloney and Burmester thrive in the unstable connection, allowing for a truthful creation of kinship… through each other’s volatility, hope forms.”
